Vintage Eastern Airlines Metal Ticket Validation Plate, Travel Collectible

Here we have an authentic metal airline ticket validation plate for Eastern Airlines.  This Florida based carrier was founded in 1934 and ceased operations in 1991.
**Please note** there is a major crack at the top down to the middle of this plate as shown in the photographs - sold "as is".
Airline validation plates were used when airlines and travel agencies issued hand written airline tickets prior to the electronic age.
Airline tickets were placed on a manual credit card imprinting machine with the appropriate airline plate in place of the credit card, and then swiped to imprint the airline information to "validate" the ticket.
This particular plate was used in a busy travel agency and will have normal vintage wear; occasionally there will be tape on the back (for better traction on the machine) and some corrosion commensurate with the age of the plate may be present.
These great collectible plates are becoming more difficult to find and will only continue increase in value - especially for airlines that are no longer in operation.
This interesting piece of history will be a nice addition to your travel collection, or a wonderfully unique gift for any airline memorabilia aficionado.
